Some Provinces such as Alberta and Saskatchewan require Condominium Boards to have a Reserve Fund Study carried out. This is done to help determine unit owner contribution levels for the Condominium's Reserve Fund. 

The Reserve Fund is a separate account kept by the Condominium for the repair, restoration and/or replacement of common area elements of a Condominium i.e., roof covering, roadways, sidewalks, windows, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, landscaping, etc.
